Many years of painting as well as art classes have been my sanity practice. I enjoy the process of problem solving with colors and shapes and pleasing (to me) lines that create the difference between what works and what doesn’t. This art as sanity practice has been a perfect complement to my profession as a documentary film director and editor which also entails problem solving as every cut involves decisions that move story forward and ultimately get me to that magic moment when, like in painting, I think, “it works. Leave it alone”(only to look at it again after some time and think, “maybe it doesn’t work yet, keep going…”
